Missing woman found dead after twelve years

The remains of a woman have been found in a forested area, reports Katrineholms-Kuriren. She was discovered by hikers and has now been identified as a woman who disappeared in 2012.

Over the years, the search for the woman involved extensive efforts from the police, volunteers, and volunteer organizations.

In early May this year, private individuals came across remains in the forest, and after analysis by the National Board of Forensic Medicine, her identity has now been confirmed.

“It doesn’t feel good that we haven’t found her in so many years. It’s hard to say why we didn’t find her, but the terrain where she was found was very difficult. It was some members of the public who found her while out in the forest. But it feels good now that the family can have closure,” says Emmy Truedsson, police inspector with the Katrineholm police, to the newspaper.

The woman was 65 years old when she disappeared from her home in December 2012.
