Record-breaking warm June

For the 13th consecutive month, a global temperature record has been set. June became the warmest June ever recorded, according to the EU’s climate service Copernicus.

The average temperature was 16.6 degrees Celsius, which is 0.67 degrees warmer than the average for the month during 1991–2000 and 0.14 degrees warmer than the previous June record from last year.

This marks the twelfth month in a row that global temperatures have reached or exceeded 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels.
