The number of minors between the ages of 15 and 17 being held in detention is at record levels.
So far this year, 271 minors have been detained—nearly three times as many as two years ago.
Following a violent summer, a large number of minors have been arrested by the police and then detained by the courts. In June and July alone, 75 youths between 15 and 17 years old were placed in detention.
