Suspected shooting in central Stockholm

A suspected shooting occurred in central Stockholm early Sunday morning. Several people called the police at 2:45 a.m. to report the incident.

“There are indications that it happened, but I don’t want to go into details,” said Carina Skagerlind, police spokesperson.

According to SVT, a pistol-like object was found on the ground in the area.

“We have made some discoveries, but I won’t specify what they are,” said Carina Skagerlind.

No one has been found injured.

Large police operation

The police had several patrols at the scene and were searching for one or more perpetrators.

“We are working intensively and have closed roads in the area. We are searching with many patrols.”

The police also used a helicopter in the search. Police cordons were set up around the area and on nearby roads, but they were lifted at 7 a.m.

Occurred in central Stockholm

According to SVT, the incident happened outside a nightclub in central Stockholm.

“It was outdoors at the intersection of Regeringsgatan and Mäster Samuelsgatan,” said Carina Skagerlind.

The incident is currently being investigated as attempted murder.

Police response

During the night, police interviewed witnesses, reviewed camera footage, and conducted a technical investigation at the scene. Klaratunneln was closed overnight but reopened in the morning after the investigation was completed.

A large number of people and vehicles have been checked.

No one has been detained at this time.
