Three individuals are being charged with disobedience towards law enforcement in connection with a pro-Palestinian protest in Lundagård at Lund University at the end of May, according to P4 Malmöhus.
The prosecutor reports that when the demonstrators’ tent camp was cleared ahead of a doctoral promotion, the individuals remained within the police cordon despite orders to leave the area.
The key question is whether the individuals disrupted public order sufficiently to be convicted of a crime.
“The requirement for disorder is not entirely clear; I do not see that the legislation is precisely defined. Therefore, it is important for the courts to test this,” says prosecutor Maximilian Lönn to P4 Malmöhus.
The prosecutor is seeking a fine of 30 daily units at 150 kronor each. The trial is tentatively scheduled for next week.
The accused neither deny nor admit to the charges.
