A derailment on the Iron Ore Line (Malmbanan) has led to a stoppage in traffic, local media reports.
“It was an iron ore train, and the derailment occurred during a shunting operation,” says Pär Aronsson, spokesperson for the Swedish Transport Administration, to NSD.
The Iron Ore Line has experienced several derailments during the winter and spring, causing total stoppages in traffic. The company LKAB has suffered billion-krona losses due to prolonged stoppages on the route to the port in Narvik, Norway.
There is currently no forecast for when traffic can resume this time.
