Two men from Gästrikland have been ordered to pay 113 million SEK in damages for providing illegal TV services to at least 5,000 customers, reports GD.
The men, aged 45 and 55, have for several years operated an illegal business where they broadcast TV channels via so-called IPTV for a fee.
Due to the crimes, companies such as Discovery, Viaplay, and Cmore are estimated to have lost revenues worth over 100 million SEK and will now share the compensation.
The men were previously sentenced to pay 195 million SEK, but after an appeal to the Patent and Market Court of Appeal, the amount has now been reduced. The men were also sentenced to two and a half years in prison for aggravated copyright infringement and violation of the Copyright Act, which has now been upheld.
During searches of the men’s homes, police seized gold and whisky worth millions of SEK.
